Please join us for an evening of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and celebration as we mark Anup's (non-milestone) birthday. We have reserved all of Ethel's Fancy for the night — the entire restaurant will be exclusively ours.
This is an adults-only evening. Children and grandchildren who have reached 18 are warmly and enthusiastically welcome.
Ethel's Fancy is named for Ethel — Chef Scott Nishiyama's mother, a Nisei Japanese American known for her gracious table and love of a well-thrown dinner party.
Chef Nishiyama trained at the CIA and spent years in the kitchens of Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller, earning a Michelin Star at Chez TJ before opening Ethel's Fancy — now listed on the Michelin Guide as well. His cooking is California-seasonal with a Japanese-American soul: small plates built around whatever is at its seasonal best and a miso caramel pork belly that regulars plan their visits around.
